Abstract	In addition to these research areas, I am part of a Core Group set up by the Planning Commission - the apex national planning body in India - to examine the implications of climate change for national planning efforts and recommend intervention / response strategies. One of the first steps of this Group is to sensitize the line ministries in the Indian Government to the climate change issue and to help plan and set a research agenda for long-term climate change related research.
