Abstract	Over the course of the last 3 months, using printed storm track atlases we have created a dataset which provides a record of the landfalling locations of tropical cyclones for the Indian East Coast, for a 70 year period. The data include the characteristics of each event, such as the time of the year and intensity at landfall. Using these data, we are now exploring the spatial and temporal patterns of storm incidence for the East Coast. This work will allow us to put together for the first time a detailed profile of vulnerability, which, when combined with sea level rise information will provide an extremely useful base for further impact studies.
