Abstract	The issue of attributing climate change to enhancements of greenhouse gases and other anthropogenic or natural causes is a central concern of current scientific assessments of climate change. Much of the work by assessment groups on this topic is relatively informal, and our research is directed at developing formal probabilistic frameworks for making expert judgements on causes of climate change.
